About IDNA
Our Association is proudly made up of 11 affiliated clubs, each playing a vital role in the strength, spirit and success of netball in the Illawarra. Together, these clubs form the foundation of our community — welcoming players of all ages and abilities, and providing opportunities to play, coach, umpire and volunteer in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Each club brings its own history, culture and passion for the game, while sharing a common commitment to teamwork, respect and sportsmanship. From grassroots NetSetGO and junior competitions through to senior, mixed and representative pathways, our clubs work side by side to develop skills, build confidence and foster lifelong friendships.

United under the Illawarra District Netball Association, our 11 clubs are more than just teams — they are communities. Their dedication, volunteer spirit and love for netball continue to grow the game across the region, ensuring a strong and vibrant future for netball in the Illawarra.

Our Key Values
1. Remember — This Is Their Journey, Not Yours.
Youth sports are about your child’s growth — not about reliving your past or creating a new one through them. Let their experience belong to them.
2. Let the Coach, Coach.
Shouting instructions from the stands only confuses and pressures young athletes. Step back and allow the coach to guide, so your child can focus, learn, and play freely.
3. Separate Identity from Performance.
Whether they strike out or score the game-winner, your love and pride stay the same. Their success or struggle doesn’t define your worth — or theirs.
4. Choose Encouragement Over Critique.
Mistakes are part of the process. Be their biggest supporter, not their harshest critic — especially on the car ride home.
5. Model Emotional Control.
If you want your child to stay composed under pressure, show them what that looks like from the sidelines. Your calm becomes their confidence.
6. Celebrate Effort, Not Just Outcome.
Hustle, teamwork, and persistence matter more than the final score. Recognise how they play, not just whether they win
7. Trust the Process.
True development takes time. Avoid chasing shortcuts, overtraining, or early specialisation that can steal the joy and longevity of the game.
8. Protect Rest and Fun.
Sports should build a love for movement and teamwork — not feel like a job. Guard time for recovery, play, and simply being a kid.
9. Speak Respectfully of Coaches and Officials.
Even when you disagree, model respect and patience. The way you speak about authority teaches your child how to handle adversity and teamwork.
10. Pause Before You React.
Emotions run high in competition. Take a breath, gain perspective, and respond with the composure you want your child to remember — and emulate.

Thank you to our valued sponsors. Your support makes netball in the Illawarra possible and helps our game continue to grow across our community.
